Show Plates Only - All plates are sold strictly for display and off-road use only. Please read these terms carefully before placing an order.

Show Plates Only - No Road Use

All number plates supplied by Retro Plates are sold strictly as show plates for display and off-road use only.

They are not supplied as road-legal registration plates and are not intended for use on public highways in the United Kingdom.

Our plates are suitable for:

  • Car shows
  • Exhibitions
  • Photoshoots
  • Track use
  • Off-road vehicles
  • Decorative/display purposes

Not a DVLA-Registered Supplier

Retro Plates is not a DVLA-registered number plate supplier. We do not:

  • Verify registration documents (V5C/logbook)
  • Confirm entitlement to registration marks
  • Supply plates in accordance with DVLA road-use regulations

Customers are responsible for ensuring they are legally entitled to display any registration mark ordered.

No Guarantee of Road Legality

While plates may be manufactured using standard sizing or materials, we make no representation or warranty that they comply with:

  • DVLA regulations
  • Current British Standards (including BS AU standards)
  • MOT requirements
  • The Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001
  • Any other UK road traffic legislation

Use of any plate purchased from us on a public road is entirely at the customer's own risk.

Customer Acknowledgement

By placing an order, you confirm and agree that:

  • You understand the plates are supplied for show/display purposes only.
  • You will not hold Retro Plates liable for any enforcement action or penalties.
  • You accept full responsibility for how the plates are used.
  • You will ensure compliance with all applicable laws before fitting plates to any vehicle used on public roads.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Retro Plates shall not be liable for:

  • Fines
  • Penalty points
  • MOT failures
  • Vehicle prohibition notices
  • Police enforcement action
  • Seizure of plates
  • Any indirect or consequential losses

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or any liability that cannot legally be excluded under the laws of England and Wales.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Retro Plates against any claims, damages, losses, or legal costs arising from:

  • Misuse of the products
  • Use of the products on public highways
  • Breach of road traffic or registration regulations

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
